Joint Residency Checklist

Use this checklist to determine the types of supporting evidence you can file with your petition to prove this criteria. You do not need to file all of these items with your petition to prove this criteria; one of these should be sufficient, but the more evidence you can file, the stronger your case will be.

  • Your affidavit;
  • Credit card bills, letters, cards, and any mail addressed to one or both spouses at joint address;
  • Joint bank accounts listing joint address;
  • Employment records;
  • Utility receipts (gas, electric, water or phone);
  • School records;
  • Hospital or medical records;
  • Leases, deeds, mortgages, rent receipts, letters from landlord or neighbors;
  • Insurance policies; or
  • Affidavits of persons who know you and/or your abusive spouse.
